Raising the Bar
Whilst LIMA (Langkawi International Marine & Air show) was on, we had an opportunity through the day light hours to do some extracurricular activities.

No, we are not talking long walks on the beach; we have upgraded the bar, music system (with Ipod shuffler to improve music variety) and installed new air conditioners into some of the rooms.

Now with a slightly larger and higher bar roof, one should be able to consume the afternoon refreshers without having a wet back from that occasional downpour.

New images will be completed when the new frangipani trees grow back their leaves...but of course that is not nearly as good as seeing it for ones self. As we did run a little late on the project, we again appreciate everyone's patience with us for those few days after LIMA.

Boys love their toys
You may have heard how much boys love their toys and in particular when they come from Europe and you must also know that boys justify this as the quality is quite remarkable. We hope all your taste buds agree. One of the new touches that you will appreciate is the world's quietest cocktail blender and a new range of long cocktail glasses for themed poolside and sunset drinks.

Also in our little upgrade we gave the bar staff more storage and extra fridge space so this means we can be more creative and a bit speedier about how we prepare our drinks. This has lead to a complete rewrite of the cocktail list (but also keeping some of the CDM classics) with a new focus on long, fresh and tropical cocktails only using premium ingredients, fresh juices and quality mixers. This is all about bringing the kitchen philosophy into the bar and to tempt your taste buds here is one of the new range…

Peppered Pineapple Martini

Under the knife
We have cooked up a new menu with Chef Zainal leading the way. After reading your comments, we have refreshed the menu with more local Malaysian flavors as well as a balance of western flavors.

Our favorite off the new menu: Seared Sesame Tuna w. Edamame Gratinate Potato, Asparagus & Bean Salad & Wasabi Aioli

In addition a dessert menu is just about to be served out with the new signature dish being trio of Langkawi Fruit Crème Brulee's showcasing some of our local produce.

Coming soon is our revisited breakfast menu - keeping all the classics you love and adding a few healthy fresh options.

Growing school of fish
As you may have previously noticed, CDM is home to brightly colored tropical fish that are stuck to the pillars around the bar. A closer inspection will reveal that each fish carries the name of a person or couple. These lucky souls are the members of the Fish Club, guests who have returned time and again clocking up more than 30 room nights and four visits.

It is that time of year when we put up the tree, prepare the Christmas menu and start buying presents. We've placed the Moet on ice, the Red wine near the decanter and chef is busy sourcing the best Turkey in Langkawi.

We are looking forward to welcoming those guests lucky enough to be here back for this wonderful time of year, however we would also like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas & prosperous New Year from all of the team at Casa del Mar.
