No bags in rooms.
Respecting discerning tea drinkers rights who correctly pointed out that coffee drinkers had their own pot,
Casa del mar has now placed shiny steel teapots (matching the coffee ones) in the room. Morning imbibers can now enjoy a pot of loose leaf tea of Malaysia's own Best of Highland
blend right in the room.
Elevenses happens somewhere between breakfast and afternoon tea. A self drive coffee machine has been set up in
the reading room to add caffeine to your email and book browsing pleasure. |

Morning towel supply stopped.
..because we deliver the night before. Super-sized at 90inches by 40 inches and twice the thread count of the old
ones, the new beach towels deliver just that extra bit of luxury. Placed in the room and replenished at turndown there is no danger of being left because of an early morning raid on
the bartop towels by others.
And another thing..
After five years and one Tsunami, the bar stools we opended with had finally succumbed to the ravages of time. In their place we now have 12 solid new Chengal and Teak perches from
which to evaluate your sunset margaritas. |

Virtual Visit
If you are missing the sunkissed beaches and swaying palms and would like me to stop these overworked
cliches then take a virtual visit of the resort. By the end of the month you will be able to browse through the new photography on the website by Chris Leong.
Designed to represent the feel of the hotel more closely; perhaps you can be the judge and let us know
if you think we have got it right. Alternately let us know what images you think should be there or perhaps even send a couple of your own. |

Meeting!...your needs
If work is coming between you and a weekend at Casa del Mar bring it with you. Last year we added a
facility for small meetings. The boardroom comes with overhead data projection, wireless internet access, satellite tv, cd, dvd, and a good old fashioned vcr;....remember them?
Langkawi, as you will know, has enough activity to keep even Indiana Jones happy for a couple of
days so it would be a good spot for that executive team building session you've been thinking about as well. |

Dont wait for the G8
Irshad Mubarak isn't. An enterprising environmentalist on the island, Irshad is developing a nursery
of indigenous trees to be planted on Langkawi for the purpose of absorbing the carbon emissions of air travel. To sustain the project, Langakwi visitors, past, present
or future, can purchase the equivalent in trees grown to cancel out the carbon emissions of the flight they took, or will take, to get here. You can find out more about
Irshad and his project on www.malaysia-wildlands-project.com. There is a table that will calculate
your carbon emissions between any two points in the world. |
